Tips for Keeping Christmas Shopping Budgets Under Control
October 12th 2009 12:31
Christmas is hurling toward us and budgets are about to be smashed. As the world creeps out of recession, the retail market is pushing the buyer to spend more money, RIGHT NOW. Here are tips to stay within your budget without giving up gift giving this Christmas.
#1 Set your limits early. Many people wait too long to set their Christmas budgets. By the time the budgets are in place, there is no time to save. The earlier you start putting money aside for the gift budget, the easier sticking to that budget will be.
#2 Don't fall for sales and clearance. Sale and clearance items are often things no one needs. Just because an item costs a few bucks less does not mean it is in your budget to splurge. Keep a level head and stick to #3.
# 3 Make a firm list. The best list is a firm list when it comes to Christmas shopping. When preparing the list, make sure only to include immediate family members. All of the cousins and cousins cousins mean spending more and more money and that is not what the aim of a budget is all about.
#4 Make gifts. Homemade gifts are often the least budget hindering and the most thoughtful. Crocheting or knitting are wonderful skills to have when you want to save money on your Christmas shopping list.
